giggs

Given the current level of hype around London (well, it's been there a while), the fact that his albums out soon, 'track 9'...

There's no thread or even mention of him here, or any of that hip-hop scene in South. Just wonder what you lot think of it all, if you're aware of it.

Giggs has grew on me, a lot. There are better than him around don't get me wrong.

yeah good call. personally i haven't mentioned him cos i don't really know what to say - jury's still out for me. in theory i really dislike anything too american-style from london, never really felt any ukhh.. it's not just the beats or the speed, even giggs' gun talk sounds more american-style. same way PDC always sound like wannabe gangsta rappers to me.

one thing i know, 'track 9' is a fucking GROWER of the first order:

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value=""></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

if you don't like this the first time listen to it a few more times, trust me.

next chockablock features giggs and will therefore be 100% guaranteed lock-off according to the hype merchants on grimeforum, haha. pecknarm has a seriously fierce reputation, it seems.

hah, half of grimeforum think giggs will get it locked off?

Missed that one.

Both cds are growers you know.

There's a few others but these were easy to find and I can't be arsed upping any myself. Hollowman Meets Blade is alright as well.

There's other good shit out there as well. Only radio I'm aware of is on a pirate in South, 12-2 on a Saturday. I've got no recordings, just stumbled onto it- it's just playing tracks, though, there are no "sets" to speak of.

Others?
There's Villain, Stanaman, Young Spray, few others. Some of this stuff is alright still.

absolute grower - cant stop listening to it now - his lilting flow initially caught me off guard and i thought he was just shit - its a bit like prez t, really really good

if he spat over some faster beats it would be better

you must be talking about Whoa FM (which I happen to also have a show on - no promo)

Check out Big Ryde (Giggs' DJ) on Whoa 90.4fm 12am to Late on Monday nights for the latest from this underground scene

http://www.myspace.com/djbigmuthafuckinryde (most of his top friends are key movers on the scene)

The old myspace also has hot freestyles - http://www.myspace.com/djbigride
