Noone finds that funny? I almost cried with laughter when I realised GF wasn't joking and the the symbol is literally this
Haha, that's actually pretty good. It's for when you're not really Jewish, just Jew
ish.
I actually had a flatmate years ago who was a bit like that - this very, very weird Finnish woman who hadn't been born Jewish, but had married a Jewish guy and I think even lived with him in Israel for a while, but it hadn't worked out and they'd got divorced. But she'd formally converted to Judaism in order to marry him, and hadn't renounced it when they broke up, so she kept Chanukah and everything. I think there's a character in
The Big Lebowski like that, isn't there?
What made it even funnier is that the third person in the flat was this guy from Manchester who was from a Jewish family, but wasn't religious and didn't take it terrible seriously in a cultural way, either. He was bi and quite effeminate, and made a living as a stand-up comic, so he had lots of material like "The one good thing about growing up both Jewish and queer is that you can listen to as much Barbara Streisand as you like and your parents don't suspect a thing", etc.
The two least typical Jews in Stamford Hill.
