That's what I'm getting at - you can trade financial products from anywhere now so why do you need to be in the City of London? As far as I can tell the huge edifices in central London that are owned by the big banks or hedge funds are merely a show of their financial strength, a demonstration that they can afford a huge swathe of this prime real estate.
The other advantage of the internet is that it ought to allow more and more people to work from home - if it became normal for office workers to do this imagine the effect on crowding in cities and on the amount of CO2 produced in travel.
