Good on ya Jenks. Keep cranking it out and being hatd on yourself. It's the only way to live if you ask me.

I actually like this I'm surprised - I can't understand your poetry when I read it but I can hear the music of it when it's read out

There's nothing difficult about it really but with that one it helps that someone's pointing out that it's written in different voices although the diction alone indicates it fairly clearly.

Im glad you like it in any case.

They're supposed to be fun apart ftom anything else.

It's hard for me to gauge how difficult it is. I write to my level without any pandering. I'd rather not assume everyone's an idiot and needs talking down to and if they do need to develop new reading skills yo tackle it then provided they persevere then I've fone em a favour and they've learned something but I was particularly thrilled with that recording specifically because of the way it demonstrates what the poem does on the page so even a child can grasp it.

for me, the thing i'm enjoy about your stuff is the way it washes over you and you can be sent down your own alleyways of though for a second, snap back and not lose the flow because the thread running throughout is cohesive. and yet letting go of the need for the narrative to spoon feed you every second is part of the fun. very psych

Thank you mate. It's definitely psychedelic in a way I don't think many other poets have approached. In a much more intergrated and essential way. Far more so than slobs like Duncan or Ginsberg.

How do you write - do you come up with a concept and then find words for it, or come up with words and let a concept (if there is one) emerge?

As cringeworthy (probably) as the raps I wrote in my teenage years were, I think I was basically approaching writing the way it 'should' be approached in those days - just trying to come up with clever rhymes and boasts, just churning it out, addicted to it. Unfortunately if I was to write a poem nowadays I'd feel the weight of all the literary criticism I've read on my shoulders - or rather, I'd feel it peering over my shoulder

I think academia (for all that it has given me) has ruined me for writing - and maybe even for reading!

I do both depending on circumstances. I think not going to university was a very lucky escape for me but I'm not convinced you can't repair the damage. It does require a certain determination to take yourself and literature seriously (which is not the same as losing your sense of humour)
