I've seen most of those before, but the 'Mole Station Nursery' one seems too good to be true...I'm scared to type it into google just in case it's actual kiddy porn...

Another fitting, rather than unfortunate name:

Remains of Roman gladiators found in York, yadda yadda...

The most persuasive argument for the gladiator theory is a large carnivore bite mark, made by a lion, tiger or bear, an injury which Mr Hunter-Mann said was "unique".

Well if anyone should know...!

I was press-ganged into helping with data entry at work today, which allowed me to discover the following people, all of whom own/manage car dealerships:

Nick Spang
Chris Bis
Paul Bourgeois
Bob Mycock

I love Paul Bourgeois, that's marvellous. You have to give props to Christopher Bis for opting for the shortened form of his name, too.

My girlfriend used to know a fellow student at Oxford who was apparently the acme of annoying, privileged horsiness - her name: Sarah Heritage.

I've seen 'Mycock' as a surname before, probably in this very thread. I think it would go nicely with 'Isaac' as a Christian name...

'Cheese' is an uncommon, but not unknown, British surname. Could work brilliantly as a double-barrel...

Haha, my ex-girlfriend went to a private school with lots of kids from around Indonesia etc, they get to choose their own English names (often before a full grasp of English is attained)

Hucks, do you have any more lists of names?

If you check back to Hucks' original post, he refers to a friend whose family collects the silly names. That friend was (and still is) me.

My parents maintain a silly names list to this day, it stretches into the thousands at last count. I'm visiting them at Christmas so will try to transcribe as much of it as I can.

I once did a couple of days' dogsbody work in my college's development office and I distinctly remember adressing an envelope for some alumni event to a Mr. Cheese-Probert. That really stuck in my head, for some reason.
