The Acid House

Did anyone else see this on Film 4 last night? Ages since I'd seen it, still reckon it's (a) not as good as the book, thought to be fair the book would be near impossible to replicate in full, and (b) Not quite as succesful an adaptation as Trainspotting, doesn't have quite the same flow and energy to it. Also can't overlook (c) which is that Irvine Welsh as a modern Scottish novelist just isn't as good as Jim Kelman, Alan Warner or Alasdair Gray, though he may well be on a par with Janice Galloway and is certainly better than Alan Bissett. However, despite all of that, the film really managed to make me both angry and sad last night, in the appropriate, with-it not at-it way that it seemed to want to. So thumbs up to it.

Oh, and this has reminded me to make an effort and see the adaptation of Ecstacy as soon as poss. Can anyone report on that one?
