This was an interesting thread, until my Fitzgerald-esque crack-up. The porn debate was particularly interesting; if anything, the social mania has got worse now.

I was in a very bad way in 2010, but I didn't really drink again until 2014 when I had a new career and had brought a house. You can turn things around without extreme measures. I only went to two AA meetings, they weren't for me at all. Psuedo-religious junk didn't help, but I also determined to sort myself out. It was about control and a different environment, for me, in the end.

Everybody was very nice to me, though. I'd forgotten (well, I was very drunk). Even Droid and Zhao, my ultimate frenemies.

I would like to know your opinions on porn, Nomad. Mainly because mine have been changing radicallyin recent years, and I'm still interested and open to all the arguments.

As disclosure, I got paid three times for writing stories for Mayfair magazine in my pseudo-journalistic "career" in 1999, and I'm not very proud of it now.

dissensus must read these stories. pls copy and paste.

Ha ha, long lost on my old desktop that I dumped in Vauxhall. They were very bad, and I wasn't well paid. I remember suddenly understanding what a craft it actually was; you couldn't be too arty, but also you had to utilise an untold amount of synonyms for genitals. I ended up feeling a lot of sympathy for the Isabelle Hupart character in the Hal Hartley film 'Amateur'. It was actually 2001 and my girlfriend at the time told me, bluntly, that they were rubbish. So I gave up. If was a relief, actually.

I remember one was about a lesbian gardener. I got a bank payment for it. Whether it was in Club or Mayfair, I can't tell you.

I wish I still had them. I also lost all the 'London diaries' that I had on my laptop, which died before Christmas. Unless you still have them, Luke? The 'K-Punk' medallion, the Daria Shapiro Art Fair, etc? All lost.

Incidentally craner you defeatist you can usually take the computer to a shop hand over money and salvage at least something. It would be a tragedy to lose all that work. Show some spirit.
