the link to gentrification is an interesting juxtaposition, but maybe doesn't go much beyond that in the article. dan hancox is writing a thing on gentrification and grime at the moment.
maybe it's been said before in here but the violence of road rap is the maddest thing for me, much as i like the tracks. feels like things are surely a lot tougher for young people in these places than they were in the grime days, if this is the music they're making... but then you do have afrobeats as the other happier side to that somehow coexisting
