Barry Gifford

Writer of Wild At Heart. The Sailor and Lulu stories. Being a Lynch fan I'm bound to take interest.

I've read a few of his books, or at least tried to, they're quite heavy reading, dialogue heavy.

Only other writer I know of that compares is Harry Crews but from what I can tell Crews is better at creating stories. Gifford seems to be all characters and situations.

I'm reading Perdita Durango at the moment and just watched this documentary on immigrant towns on youtube.

Anyone else read any Gifford and what do you make of it? For me I like it but it's definitely strange.

Took me about a year to read The Cuban Club and Do the Blind Dream.
