Rare groove

Now that everything is on YouTube, and one of the criteria to be Rare Groove is that it's hard to source, does it still exist?

I reckon a lot of rare groove was never really that rare. So if it's fallen out of favour there may be a different reason.

20 years ago the thread would come up and people would list Donald Byrd, Lonnie Liston Smith, and Deniece Williams as rare groove. Never that rare. These days I listen to Art Farmer and try and make it fit but not quite.
