both of them are assembling and rearranging elements from all over the place and for both of them a big part of that is the auto-everything thing that's going on across pretty much every form of culture. lana was doing something different early on but now she's in the autobiographical mode. there's a willingness for both of them to say things that come from the heart but which are essentially unpleasant, not tolerated, going to upset people, from a huge platform

they're the yin and yang of the current formation of american sexuality. lana's girly submission to a man thing is the flipside of kanye's unhinged machismo thing and they're both conflicted about it. unsettled by the whole thing. but also both glorifying it inside of this glossy production

Do you think Lana will get herself cancelled by going on a talk show and shooting her mouth off about her irrational hatred of eskimos or something like that?

She is the epitome of all the ideas Eliot discusses in "Tradition & the Individual Talent." She is that great synthesis of 20th C high modernism and its 21st century antithesis, poptimism. She has dissolved her personality as "Lizzy Grant" and taken on that impersonal, cultural constellation of desire that is the American psyche, embodied it and turned it into ear candy.
