Soundtrack has become a genre right, people make soundtrack music that isn't even for films. There was this band I remember, they out out cassettes of soundtracks like a Sergio Leone spaghetti western thing. But there was no movie, it was just an album.

Jumping in to defend Pat Garrett as Peckinpah's best film. I think Dylan makes a claim for great cinematic songwriting on certain albums, Blood on the Tracks and Desire being prominent examples. A similar short story structure to Nebraska's songs, but much more wandering in ways that I find more memorable.
