San Francisco clubbing recommendations

Actually it's many years since I lived there but when I did I couldn't believe how shit it was for going out.

It's still a great place to go for a holiday!
And maybe the clubs have improved, but around 2000 it felt likebeing in a timewarp after living in London - 50s music, rock, punk, house with bongos and drum and bass with bongos.
there was some good hip hop stuff tho, specifically turntablist people like q-bert etc, and I did get to see digital underground play live which was awesome.

It's gotten a lot better (since I left, actually -- coincidence? I hope so).

I think there's loads of good parties in the Bay Area, but dunno about "techno and house"

check spaz.org for the warehouse party scene, also 5lowershop.org (second site hasn't been updated but they post at spaz too).. the techno will be hard and there will usually be breakcore, dubstep and breaky-bmore-booty stuff.
