What's on your iPod/mp3 player?

the selection I have at any one time can easily affect my mood at work. grime acts as a catalyst with the coffee high, dubstep detatches me. can't handle anything else in the morning at the moment so I've been blitzing the podcasts:

two Kiss FM Hatcha shows - one with Mala the other with Hijak
Prancehall's 'Anger Is A Gift' mix
the fourth Tempa Allstars EP
Skream b2b Tubby & NG's - Rinse session
Skream funk special - Rinse session
the first two Boomnoise&Sgt Pokes shows I missed - Sub FM
Newham Gens - Rinse session
Old skool hip hop mix by Sam Diss, noteable for the Black Sheep and Gang Starr tunes
A couple of Lykez tunes off myspace. Disappointing :slanted:
Little Dee 'Star in the Making'
the Eskibeat Recordings session on Westwood with Chipmunk and Maveric
Skepta vs Kersal - hmm...
A President T track off myspace called 'spaceship'?
Cold Blooded on Logan Sama's show off the myspace. Terminator is comedy genius
A track featuring Tempz and Escobar also off myspace
Hazzardous Sessions vol. 1 and 3 - quality.

i think my 1GB £40 'mp man' (???) has done me justice

ipods are good for listening to rinse shows (they don't fit on one cd and my laptop has crap sound for listening online.) i have a half-dozen skream stella sessions from the past few years loaded, a good way to stay current and i always get a kick out of hearing his banter while walking the streets of nyc.

i have an 8 gig nano and found i often tend to use it as a way to check out new stuff, mostly. whenever i get a new cd or download, i load it in and listen when out of the house. often leave it on for a months or two (unless i really love it), then replace it with the next new thing(s). i've got 6.5 of the 8 gigs filled, so i do leave a lot on. ipods are also convenient for listening to the harsher or more annoying stuff that my girlfriend doesn't care for me blasting while at home ;)

when riding the bus/subway, i like to try to catch a glimpse of what's playing on a fellow passenger's ipod. call me a sonic voyeur. it can be fun, sometimes gives you a different perspective on the person from what you initially thought from outer appearances. and other times it confirms first impressions exactly.

who's got their ipod out for you to see what they're playing? unless its rush hour or something, or pure suits, you'd get jacked so fast...

Similar to Leo I find I'm usually listening to live sets or radio shows while I'm on the go. The only exception to that is that I'll usually stick new records straight on there to listen to when I'm out and about. I have no desire to put my whole music collection on a portable device, as it'd take my whole commute to pick something to listen to, but I find it useful for checking out new stuff and listening to deep sets that require some concentration (makes bus journeys go faster). It can also be handy for listening to self-made mixes with a critical ear, or just for fun.

I've had the player for about 4 months now and the only thing that's stayed on there is Malcy's album. Stands out like a bit of a sore thumb, but I haven't found anything suitable to replace it! Same thing happened to my minidisc actually, where I'd find I was always carrying around this Mogwai disc. Just a fall back for those downbeat moments I guess...

by pure coincidence i had the Stranglers' 'Bitching' on whilst reading this thread :D

yes rinse sessions are brilliant for journeys or for my particular braindead line of work, don't know where I'd be without Skream's likeable chatter and keen ear or the horseplay of Boom&Pokes, Scientist's last set was big aswell. they've inspired me to seek out a set of second-hand decks..

when I've browsed through other people's ipods, the artist lists look remarkably similar - even when I've expected the tastes to been quite different. It's like everyone's downloaded the same buffet of music

What a great disc, sad that Townsend and company won't be playing out live anytime soon...some of the most fun I've had at Metal Shows in ages (although Celtic Frost came close).

Mars is wicked, sure, but there's more than one way to be hyped! Jupiter is just so superbly pompous, and Neptune is like the soundtrack to an H.P.Lovecraft story or something.
