Dubious tackle from a PSG player and the fourth official says in Romanian, referring to the player, 'That black ('negru') one there, something like that is not acceptable' - Romanians are more comfortable denoting people by skin colour so there is a cultural mismatch. 'Negru' literally means 'black' and is not equivalent to the n-word.

There was an incident with Cavani talking to one of his mates from Uruguay on Insta and using a term like that too.
I can see why someone might take issue, but I'm also uncomfortable with Western countries and the Anglosphere coming down on people like a ton of bricks when their language and culture doesn't match our own - starts to defeat the purpose of combating racism when you get to that point.

Apparently the member of the coaching staff the official's accused of being racist toward was calling the officials "gypsies" from more or less the first minute and that's what led to the situation. The fourth official eventually had enough, called the ref over to give him a red and when pointing out who he was talking about said "the black one".
If that's true then it completely flips the story.

It's the kind of situation which perfectly illustrates why it's unwise and completely unnecessary to publicly weigh in on a developing story like this. We don't have all the facts yet and it looks as though there's more to it than initially suggested. If it turns out the fourth official was being racially abused then a bunch of the people firing out tweets and status updates are gonna have to walk them back, double down or pretend they never existed.
