i think, and many will prolly agree, that the catpower chick does have talent. she is able to write decent songs, plays pretty well, and does have a nice voice. i dont think lack of talent is the problem with catpower.

She sings in a literal three note range in every song, she plays melodic guitar that any retard could master in a month, and in general her aesthetic, especially in her videos, is laughably inane and of course "indie" all the way.

if Supreme Clientele is better I've been missing out and had better get it pronto.

terrible, terrible record compared to the heights scaled by Wu. my 2 cents.

ya got a few points there nomad... but those are not the reasons catpower's music make my stomach turn these days. well actually now that i think about it maybe they are! but only partially...

Is catpower not just a linda lusardi wank object for indie boys? (like carla bruni is for me ; why's her 1st album not in the list? and the wrong francois hardy album. should be soleil)

1000 albums and no room for Tom Jobim? Booo! Wave is one of my top 5 albums.

such a wonderful cover... you made me revisit this album, ive had it for a while but never gave it a good listen until now, brilliant stuff - jobim was the coolest. cheers.

btw these kind of lists normally make me sick, but this one seems half decent, cant be fucked going through it all, but in the b's they have jorge ben, so it cant be too ba..

exactly! like M.I.A. is for indie types who now realize that it's not cool to openly identify as indie ("yeah, I like Daft Punk and electronic music!") so they now listen to Hot Chip and LCD Soundsystem with their Bonnie Prince Billy. And I'm the first to admit M.I.A. is gorgeous, yes, but that does not mean that hearing "Bird Flu" doesn't make me want to punch her or someone like her numerous times.

I wish indie types would just admit to themselves that you can want to fuck a girl whose music sucks. It's possible. Instead of trying to convince the world that these girls are making amazing albums just so they don't have to feel guilty that they jerk off to press photos of them.

The worst case of the indie pin-ups is Joanna Newsom tho by far.

agree with zhao on supreme clientele: never felt it much at all in terms of the whole wu catalogue, much much less than ironman. as you say it was the production.

rachel stevens? sean paul? bubba sparxxx? justin timberlake? scissor sisters?

F****** hell man

All about pride and egos
It would be interesting if they did, if only to witness the PC storm that would break over their heads if they put a Buju album in there.

Til Shiloh got put in the "sorry we left these ones out" section.

Also, two more metal albums got mentioned: Earth 2 and Emperor's Anthems to the Welkin at Dusk.

In the U.S., the FCC and the rest of whoever it is who buys albums with the lyrics all cleaned up and pre-censored for them by Walmart (read: conservatives) are just as likely if not more likely to object loudly and legally to Buju/dancehall/reggae lyrics.
