This set seems to confirm that at least the clothes are pretty much authentic (these are probably German [but I think the aestethic was pretty much all over the Western world], and the mad avenue crowd propably had the money and the interest to add that little extra)

specially something like this

The men's are much closer than the women's, which are at least a decade off.

The "housewife" clothes are close, but still a little lagging and look more Donna Reed show than they should.

I have all kinds of pictures of my grandparents from the 60s, and my grandmothers were both very fashionable in the early 60s and they dressed nothing like that exaggerated femme fatale 40s thing you see in Mad Men.

Joan Holloway's character is dressed especially film noir and late 40s, rather than early 60s, in many scenes.

I like her outfits, but to say she looks true-to-period is kind of a stretch.

The guys who make the best hoodies in the world are having a half price sale:

http://dunderdon-euro.stores.yahoo.net/products-mens-sweats-s18-olof.html?7866&7867&7868&7869&7870&

I picked up a couple more today despite the fact that I have about 10 in various colours already!

Size wise, Large would be baggy but comfortable on the average sized frame. Skinny malinks should go for medium. I usually go for mens medium (which are getting tighter every year! ;)), or ladies large as I prefer the fit.

Damn you, my wallet is very sad now.

I was really tempted to buy a black silk scarf with white polka dots the other day, wear it with a grey cardie... but seemed a bit OTT. Maybe I'm too conservative.

i'm also 5'7", and leather jackets like me a lot. not the one worn by steve mcqueen tho... i hate those kind of collars, especially brown, especially with those kind of sleeves.

5'8 and recently pulled out my leather Fonz jacket that ive had for ages. found it much more breathable/temperature controled when city walking.

Is there any more horrible and mundane item of clothing than the "fleece"?

Especially when you see fellas wearing some old knackered one that's gone all faded and bobbly. To really pull off this look, you need a mug of extra strong tea and a copy of The Sun under one arm.

I just assume that they're fetishists and I just havent been invited to attend their seedy nightclubs where they, y'know, set up tents with each other and drink real ale and stuff yet. I await the invite with baited breath though.

can we have a discussion how about how the average black teenager has not dressed this "white" since the early 70's?

thigh length coats w/ epalettes, thin cardigans, straight leg jeans, arab terrorist neck scarfs...

Yeah I know...first it started with the sort of Run DMC kids on the LES then the early 90s neon kids.

But then when I saw kids in the Bushwick Houses wearing skinny jeans, scarves, and cardigans, I was like omgwtf.

The feedback loop is now complete.
