Here in NYC, Cam & Vado have slowly been churning out hits for only NYC to get excited about. Last year I thought Vado was just some guy, but this year, he's been battering shit.

Also; The Meek Mill record is produced by Jalil Beats. They've done a couple records together and they really seem to mesh.

Nope, I should check that site more often though some of the videos on there are crazy.

Hip-Hops taken over my listening so much in the last year. Very unexpected. This forum has had a huge influence on me (and blogs/sites linked from it).

^that lil wayne tune posted above is great.

I just realised who Lil Wayne's croaky raspy voice reminds me of. Bob Dylan! (as he sounds nowadays, not the young Bob obviously). Is it just me?

Can someone explain to me why Wayne gets so much hate? It's not as though I'm his greatest fan, but I love some of the stuff he's done...it's bemusing when I read so many negative thigns about him. Is it because he's successful? Because he's Southern? Because he embodies something that's offensive to the old skool hip hop fraternity?

That song is great, yeah. Not that into Nicky MInaj (that is her, right? it's probably someone else entirely now...), but she looks properly cute there...

He does put out some shit though, like that rock album that he did. When he's on form he's incredible though. I know its an old one but can I just take this opportunity to post this?

I'd be interested in pointers to more recent lil wayne stuff thats good. I can't keep up with it all.

Best part of that revamped we are the world travesty was Wayne doing the Bob Dylan section in auto-tune. Sheer comedy brilliance.

Wayne's hate comes from the usual; NYC persons just think he's a dumb southerner. Outdated 'thug-rap' fans find the skinny jeans and the general 'weird' behavior unsettling. And of course, he's successful, which, GOD FORBID anyone should be.

People also like to accuse him as a drug addict, but that whole styrafoam cup thing was an act... For one reason. Do you think a dude with a serious drug addiction could REALLY function well enough to get on everyone and their mother's fucking records for a remix? Newsflash: Junkies are not productive.

... Hence Juelz Santana pretty much disappearing off the face of the earth.

I'd like some lil wayne pointers too.

This is one of my favourites (from 2007 though) ''The Zoo'' ft. Mack Maine

yeah hes nuts on that machine. lots of people have posted vidoes of him here, on various threads. i like the way his virtuoisty makes him look like some sick nerd whereas a really good drummer just looks super cool.

That Araab Muzik video is ridiculous.

Just been on World Star Hip Hop trawling through a whole heap of rubbish. The Puff Daddy video at the top is hilarious, it's like he's some cross between Will Smith and Kanye West, minus any skills.

Couldn't find that much good stuff though.

So, Soulja's album only sold 14K. I'm not surprised in some regards, because despite having a lot of strong singles, I have yet to see them all over the place, and Soulja's main strength is his singles.

Which is why this is weird. Because, the singles were actually fairly good.

I think people grew out of him really quickly, which makes sense. But he actually did grow as a rapper and producer (I mean, we now know that Gudda Gudda is in fact the worst rapper ever. Crank Dat is poetry compared to that dude's rhymes), and while he's not going to be turning into a GOAT level person any time soon, I think he's ignored and underrated.

-materialistic subject matter
-half-arsed rhymes - most of the time they're 'off the head' which is not necessarily a bad thing, but it kind of cheapens his style. i don't care if he's been rhyming since he was 5 or whatever.
-auto tune
-pretending to play the guitar
-annoying trolly little voice
-high output, low quality

imo.
