What is the worst thing you've heard this year?

I wish I could pick an actual track but instead for me it has to be the sound of hope fleeing from my skull as I try to find any redeeming feature of the loop techno I decided to preview on boomkat as I trudge through it's latest releases. Sometimes I wish for the signature boomkat beep to pierce the soundscape, if only to remind me that I've left it playing far longer than it needs to and should instead preview the release listed as "BEATS / DOWNTEMPO / BOOGIE"

I've listened to some miserably boring rap music this year no doubt but my nomination still goes to a Youngsta Vs. V.I.V.E.K. set off Rinse I downloaded the other week. Dull as ditchwater, like an even less fun version of tech-DNB.

Probably Longmeg. Live at the latter end of a festival. The single most annoying experience I can remember having. I still have trouble articulating properly how pissed off I was by it.

This:

gets across the baseline level of irritatingness, although it doesn't include a) the frankly painful section of dancehall pastiche or b) an audience of serious arty types doing the "it's okay to dance to this because it's arty and ironic and stuff and it's only pretending to be fun" dance.

Every time anyone says that the hipster-as-cultural-bogeyman is a strawman or that hating them is passe, they should be forced to stare at this image:

until they are very sorry indeed.

Depressingly meh techno from once one of the most individual dubstep producers.
One of few I was genuinely sorry to see go.

Untold, right? Because that's my pick. Not the "worst" by any means, but definitely the most disappointing. I would've said Blawan too, but he's been making techno for a long enough time for me to just accept it and move on.

Nah, we saw some actual hipsters playing ATR-alike gabber-punk while dressed as a post-Pistols Malcolm McLaren project earlier on the same day and it was approximately 1,000,000,000 times more fun and entertaining than this pile of shite.

untold might not be doing dubstep but i dont mind some of the stuff hemlock has been putting out more recently - its more floor friendly than before. id prefer it wasnt quite so easy to place but i like the straight ahead quality of it. i feel like hes done his time making experimental music.

Okay I have a slightly more valid answer for this thread - I'm sure there were many, many worse albums released in 2012, but Jon Convex's Idoru is definitely the worst one I've actually listened to in full. It didn't help that I bought it and ended up sitting through it several times in the hopes of convincing myself that I hadn't made a huge mistake.

My problem with his transformation is that I think his "experimental" stuff was some of the most exciting and unapologetically fun dance music released at the time and his current "floor friendly" releases are a tedious bore stripped of all the qualities that made him great in the first place.

All that "trap" stuff but this in particular, I don't even know if this is meant to be ironic or serious:

i actually really enjoy "harlem shake" and his mix of flosstradamus' "roll up", all kinda bombastic and nutty.
