when you heard bmf for the 1st time it sounded epochal. cant say that about future really and truly.

I mean, you're in a much more older perspective, not to throw blows. I think I connect so much more w/ Keef, Travis, Future, and dozens of others like that because it's still the expression of jubilation and youthful absurdity, whereas Gunplay is a MAN, very adult and experienced and it shows.

Luka, did you engage w/ Starlito at all, or not for you?

Nice to see you back Sick Boy.

Thanks, just stopping by really.

Personally, I think that separating content from form in listening to rap should be a much bigger cause for hand-wringing in listeners who exist outside of the class and race demographic of its creators precisely because it allows you to enjoy Drake.

This is why Drake is a millionaire! He's the fucking simulacrum of a rapper.

Well, in 2009, if I'd have been asked by Hollywood, "Look, we're trying to do a movie about what it'd be like to be a rapper. Who's the two rappers we should base our character on?" I'd say Kanye West and Lil' Wayne. And by golly, if Drake didn't just do that by himself on a B-Movie budget and take that shit to the bank.

The biggest thing about Drake's new album for me is, last album he featured Kendrick. Will he do the same for Iamsu!, Keef or Future (all of whom are the most likely contenders).

trap god 2 seems pretty boring imo. gucci sounds bored, the beats are kinda dreary and plodding (only heard it once though). still, he is in the new harmony korine film so there is that to look forward to.

What's sad is everyone in Brick Squad SAVE Gucci seems to be really doing incredible (especially on Young Thug, who seems really invigorated and refined in Gucci's camp)

The last one especially. Lex is such a fucking genius... That beat sounds like a fusion of Telstar, some weird sino-trance... It's just beautiful.

that beat for the waka song is good but i think waka has kinda fallen off. hes not terrible now, just not that captivating compared to before. unless hes got other great new songs ive totally missed.

No that's pretty much the case. I think the situation of his cousin (Slim Dunkin) dying and the constant touring and recording has worn him pretty thin. His bark lacks the same impact and extremity these days.

It's why I'm glad Gucci's picked up all these newer acts like Thug, Young Gleesh & Scooter. Right now most of his whole team is in a real creative rut, and he needs people to keep him relatively fresh. Even if HE HIMSELF can't necessarily do that.

Corpsey

bandz ahoy
wow that waka tune is good. say what you like about him but he's got more presence than most rappers out there.

I think Gucci still has his moments, his features on 'Street Lottery' particularly.

< this is one of my favourite tunes of '13 so far. helps that it has a great zaytoven beat but gucci kills it.

Gucci is alright on the latest Free Bricks 2 tape as well with Young Scooter. Cheers for the tip on Young Scooter Corpsey read it on ya blog.

But yeah that Waka track is ace, I'd been ignoring that tape, but I'll have to grab it now.

I'm mostly catching up on Future's recent stuff I'd not heard and spinning King Louie back to back really.
