I want Moorcock

I quite fancy reading some of Michael M's stuff, partly based on a vague conviction that there must be some vaguely countercultural fantasy stuff out there somewhere that isn't just dystopian sci-fi but with wizards, and also that he might be part of it.

Worth a try? Any recommendations?

I really liked The Brothel on Rosenstrasse. It's not very fantasyish; it's just a load of doomed aristos hanging out in a decadent fictional Europe.

Never had you down for a Gaiman, Slothrop...

just a load of doomed aristos hanging out in a decadent fictional Europe.

This sounds a little bit like some of the stories in Rob Chambers's The King in Yellow - am I at all close? Not read any Moorcock but Vimothy is a big fan, IIRC.

It has to be Elric really, though TBH, Id just go and read some Abercrombie.

Elric! I have read and enjoyed The Singing Citadel, The Sleeping Sorceress and Stormbringer. Basically, it's all day-glo psychedelic swords & sorcery. Silly as shit and very much of its time but if that's what you're in the mood for it really, really hits the spot.
