My partner's (former?) best friend worked directly for him. She's now got a CBE for her efforts. Will read with interest. I don't have any hot Letwin goss though sadly.

He talks about that in the book. I think he even puts the name Class War in inverted commas to express his retrospective amusement and disdain.

Yes that is covered in that piece - he basically says it was them or someone associated with them. And then makes up a quote by them.

I'd forgotten how much of a shitbag he was.

That article is really good craner, I didn’t know anything about oliver letwin but he seemed to cut a slightly blundering nebbish figure whenever I got a glimpse in the news last year, had no idea about his romantic childhood in the free market salon ! That bit was great very sexed up.

I like how you get a good sense of the various motives of people involved beyond a vague notion of “ambition” or “entitlement”, on the one hand letwins conscious self mythologising desire to rein in the rampaging populist wing of the tories and promote “the life chances of the least advantaged”, and on the other the implicit need to impress the grown ups at mummy and daddy’s dinner table .

Can’t really comment on the bit about the lefts attack on thatcher being purely tactical and stylistic because I don’t know anything but that section does feel convincing . Certainly feels like it applies to any soundbite critiques of boris and co that make it into mainstream news .

Nadine Dories (under-secretary for health!) has confirmed that she has coronavirus and is self-isolating.

Nadine Dorries first felt ill last Friday as she was signing a statutory instrument which made coronavirus a 'notifiable' disease
The full symptoms did not kick in until Saturday as she held a constituency surgery in Mid Bedfordshire

There's a reason why I sort of laughed at the Orban thread. I don't think even the most ardent Fidesz supporter would write this kind of ludicrousness, but it's coming from the Telegraph and its writers on a daily basis:
