Are Tories redeemable at all? I imagine if Dissensus was a predominately American forum we wouldn't have a 'republican bastards' thread because they're so far gone, so cartoonishly off the deep end, that dwelling on them is hack. Like still being an 'internet atheist' past 2012.

Well... if they are not there yet they are very very close... nah, who am I kidding, they are there. This is just impotent moaning like the Trump one really. Every now and again you get someone like Lewis who at least *seems* to have done a principled act - kinda like a UK Romney you might say, and like him he's been punished by his party.

Well, they're always going to be bastards. They can be better than they currently are though. They care about power above all else, so they change when necessary.

Yeah, the comparison to Romney is apt. I remember regarding him as just another run-of-the-mill right-wing dickhead when he ran against Obama - wasn't he recorded saying that nearly 50% of American adults don't pay any income tax and are therefore basically parasites? - but my opinion of him has gone up somewhat since he voted to impeach Trump and spoke out against him.

This could have gone in any of several threads, but I'll put it here:

It's hard to see how England, in a generation's time, is going to be anything other than a monocrop desert interspersed with shanty towns connected by permanently congested roads, at best. At worst, it'll be the same, minus the monocrop desert, on account of agriculture being no longer economically worthwhile.

The term "gammon" may have become a little cliched these last few years, but seriously, the absolute fucking state of this:

According to Mr. E. Blackadder, Sir Talbot's constituency was a rotten borough, but despite his power, only ever attended the Houses of Parliament once, during which time: "he passed water in the Great Hall, and then passed out in the Speaker's Chair". His policies included "flogging servants, shooting poor people, and the extension of slavery to anyone who hasn't got a knighthood", the Prince noting that these were "sensible policies for a happier Britain".

"People say to me 'But they've got to live somewhere'. That's right, so my plan would be - and again this is just my own personal opinion - that these people who 'have to have somewhere to live', let's have them in a tent in the middle of a field, six o'clock every morning let's have them up, let's have them in the field picking potatoes or any current seasonal vegetables, back in the tent, cold shower, lights out, six o'clock, same again the next day. That would be my solution."

This is the same bloke who's just accused Gary Lineker of virtue signalling for sticking up for refugees.

We've just gone into recession, several hundred people are dying a day and Farage and co. have somehow managed to spin a few people crossing the channel into an "invasion" and the biggest story going.
