I think you can count total unmoving absorption as an 'engaging task'. Ive had a few negative acid moments on the back end of trips where the meditative nothing is no longer there, Ive walked around as much as I have the energy for, but I'm still high out of my mind and it can get uncomfortable

Trip report is an underexploited genre. There's something there. Usually it's like people telling you their dream. Yuck! But sometimes it's really good. I wanna read Luka's poems now. Luka will you send me some in the post I'll pay post? I can't read poems online it's the worst place for it

well written descriptions of the features of the experience can be really good and can trigger insights or let you hold on a bit longer. The effects and distortions, the feelings, the insights. McKenna can be great and then the next sentence so corny. I mostly don’t really care about what you did or saw, elves and aliens and shit, that’s like a dream as you say, only relevant to the dreamer

Maybe some drawing or painting or something, but if you're not a trained artist in the first place, I think you should probably prepare for it to be an embarrassing scribble when you look at it again sober.

Yeah my problem with acid is that I’d get tired and emotionally drained after 4 hours or so and it’d still be walting away keeping me on alert

I kicked off 2020 reading these together

- my wife bought me this for Christmas, it's a trip
- lone researcher smokes DMT most days for a year. LITE appears to be an abridged version, there is a longer one out there.

It’s humbling when you try to explain it after and feel yourself fail, then just sit about for a while running your hands through your hair and around the face going fuck, Jesus, that’s mad, Jesus

Yeah, I mean what would you meaningfully "do" while on acid? The dishes?

Hike around, see paintings. I always get stir-crazy can't sit still. I have friends who read theory books or the Bible, that's some crazy shit I can't get behind.

Yeah, I used to go on walks on it. Sometimes you just have to get outside and look at things. You can walk down a street you've walked down hundreds of times before and it's somehow imbued with magic.

Walkabout. The walls seem lower, you lose the home container/limiter, stretch your legs, get the blood flowing, always the route for this venture personally speaking. Don’t think I’ve ever done psychs and sat in the house. Maybe for an hour initially but then someone usually states the obvious and asks who’s up for a walk. Job done.

I got lost in a sofa once. Long story though.

Oh sure, I'm all for walking around and looking at pleasant or interesting things. I wasn't advocating lying still in a sensory deprivation tank - although I'm sure that has its place as well.

i'd second. trip reports almost always an embarassment - unless there's some profound therapeutic dimension to do with working through some actual real-life trauma - and then i find them interesting. (like this)

Yeah, that stuff is properly crazy. Gives salvia a run for its money, anyway, by the sound of it.
