he's from Flint actually him alongside guys like RMC Mike and most notably Rio da Yung OG have really been active and they collab with the Detroit guys, Lil Yachty has been hanging around that lot lately aswell

A bit more on BRASS - it's so sonically strong. It seems like for the last few years there's been a resurgence in the aesthetics of 70s black consciousness in music with stuff like Angele Bat Dawid, Damon Lock and others. This record seems to extend that and combine it with the next level lyricism of Woods. I feel like it could be a Don Cherry record of something they're rapping over at moments. Muted trumpet and woodblok drums on the second track and then that flip into a r n' b vocal? Wild.

I've noticed in rap music above all other genres the nerds have this weird possessiveness, which is additionally sharpened by a desire to appear as hard as rappers are supposed to be.
Maybe it's reflective of the nature of the genre itself, with all its boasting and shitting on people jacking your swag etc.
Laughing at someone for only just finding out about XXXX is the nerdy blogger equivalent of laughing at someone wearing a second hand Rolex.
