i was basically just having a laugh at how stiff euro music is

So is garage and grime tbh. Granted, nowhere near the stifness of eurotechno or pogostick gabba, but stiff relative to the initial liquid fluidity of jungle.

my son alerted me to this producer Vertigoaway, a bit breakcore-manic but what I like about some of the tracks is the attention to the synth-tones and the kind of naive melodic intervals used back in the day - precisely tagged to 93-94, that moment when dark starts to clumsily reach out for musicality

from Florida but that's not relevant, could be from any bedroom anywhere on the planet - certainly has nothing to do (as far as I know anyway) with the history of Florida as one of the earliest outposts of breakbeat hardcore support in the USA. nuum is just stuff they've found through internet, the atemporal and lateral drift everywhichway of sono-DNA

some of the other Vertigoaway stuff is more gnarly distorted gabber-leaning robo-bumming... and there's a few stabs at house and other kinds of groove

@blissblogger have you heard of DJ Shimamura from Japan? He made some records in the late 00s, the jakazid guy will know the one I'm talking about but it was perfectly poised at early 94, happy piano but with a huge bassline and clattering amens.

Not sure what would be the starting point (Rusko & Caspa Fabriclive?) but i think at this point the american brostep > "riddim" > future riddim idea is its own weird sub-genre and bares v. little resemblence (if at all) to croydon dubstep

Not my cup of tea but
