A lot of the comments are about how unimportant all this stuff is and how no-one should waste their time with. Surely THE most boring and pointless category of comments in the world. I always wonder what the point of them is, I mean, if the thing in question really is as boring and worthless as they claim then it will probably die away fairly soon anyhow, and, as everyone always replies, why did you comment on it if it's so boring and pointless. Maybe to try and show how above it you are I dunno.

Anyway, in this case it did however lead to a number of people giving a different answer, several replied to say that people such as Yarvin have the ear of Peter Thiel and other ultrarich people. Or as someone spelled it out further, there are a number of megarich people who are not just content counting their money, making more of it and desperately trying to minimise how much tax they pay, they have huge ambitions for changing society and A lot of rich people buy politicians and fund thinktanks and such but most of them just want to lower taxes or, in some cases, they have an issue eg abortion that they have a very strong belief in and are campaigning and pulling strings in aid of that - but Thiel is surely a lot more radical in his aims, they want to change the whole way society works.

Whatever ideas they want to get across though, I find the idea of these hipster filmmakers etc making up the kinda propaganda wing of his movement interesting but is it really true? Did this film really push his ideas and, while I get that some of these scenes can have influence way beyond their immediate crowd (the famous quote about how only a thousand people bought Velvet Underground and Nico but every single person who did went out and formed a band) if Thiel really wanted to disseminate his ideas as widely as possible and make them as popular as he can wouldn't it be more effective to buy a film studio and make a huge blockbuster film about his ideas, possibly have a crucial scene where Margot Robie gets her tits out and defeats the bad guy while lecturing to us how about we need to restructure society to be ruled by a benevolent technocratic dictator. Personally I think that that would have more impact.

And, if you really want to hammer the point home, splash the extra for her to get her bum out. I dunno who is advising Mr Thiel but they obviously they aren't telling him this kind of important stuff.

nah, don't be fooled, luka. these people are entirely inconsequential, outside a clique of a few hundred other spoiled rich kids. no one cares, they mean nothing.

NYC has become less interesting for other reasons, nothing to do with these people.

Well, son, it's mostly due to the post-Guiliani/Bloomberg security state, which fueled gentrification and the general suburbanization and bland-ing of the city. Freaks have been driven out.

both cities competed for the financial elite which meant making the city as close to singapore as they could manage. very similar arcs i suspect

Eh teens of thousands globally. Heck, Wektor knows em. And the headline podcasters in these scenes make millions of dollars from crowdfunding
