I'm playing Exodus / DMZ in Leeds.

Me, El-B and Heatwave in room 2.

Some other people in room 1 - Mala, Loe, Kode, Scuba, Silkie...

Gonna be good.

I'm doing some 80s dancehall, some funky, maybe some jungle.

Excited about this one.

Brilliant news! I'm gonna do everything i can to make sure i reach this.

Went to subdub at the west indian centre a couple of months ago to see Shakcleton, Peverelist, Surgeon etc and I loved it, one of the best clubs I've ever been to. :)

Am off to Goldie/DJ EZ/Plastician at Leeds' Faversham two days before this, but if funds are allowing I'll come to this. West Indian is quality. If you're ever in Leeds for a night make sure and go to the Brudenell Social Club beforehand in Hyde Park (LS6), it's a combination of proper social club and good gig venue in one, generally peaceful too.

Yes! Train tickets are booked, its on. I don't think I'll be leaving room 2 all night. Grievous Angel>El-b>HEATWAVE!!!:D

edit: Looks like I'll be wandering round Leeds for a couple of hours afterwards before I get my train home in the morning. if anyone wants to invite me to an aftershow party, or just somewhere for me and my pal to chill for a while that would be cool...dont worry, we're not radgies or anything

Bah . . . Not been on the board recently so missed this. Ive not been to DMZ for a couple at least 2.5 years. Would have been tempted by this but am away this weekend. If my plans change Ill post back. Im sure you'll have a great time.

Wicked night! Room 2 was the place to be. Heatwave were relentlessly hype, GA played some fantastic UK funky and Kode 9 was just raw (in a good way). Enjoyed the first part of El-b's set when he played all the classics, but he lost me with the newer wobble stuff unfortunately.

@GA: Funky mix of Soundclash sounded great, as did the new version of Move Down Low. Smashed it! My mate who had never even heard of UK Funky before reckoned you were the best thing he heard all night, so, there you go... Was lovely to meet you and John and was very chuffed to get my hands on a copy of Woofah. Cheers!

Great meeting you too Benny! I'm really pleased you liked the set :) Tell your mate I'm very flattered!

That was set was just brilliant to do, out to Simon, out to Sweet Potato Soundsystem, they all really looked after me, they;re brilliant. It's a fantastic night, really special, it's a prvielege to play there. Fulfils a long held ambition: play at Exodus / DMZ. And it worked out alright. Packed room, which went off... it was fab. Leeds crew you rock!

Sounds like it was a great night. John, does that mean there are copies of Woofah with Simon (Tribe) or were these pre-release copies you brought up ?

Hi Bang - no just took a few up to give out, mainly to contributors (Gabriel Heatwave lives 10 mins from me but easier to hand over in Leeds, ha ha!).

Couldn't really carry any more than that but will get them in Tribe soon.

Top night, really chuffed to have finally visited the West Indian Centre after hearing so much about it.

All about Kode 9 and then room 2 tho.

Great to see Matt B again and to meet Benny.

Almost as soon as I got in the car to leave, I realised I hadn't asked about copies for Tribe. Dick.

Good to see John again and meet Paul.

Rarely have I seen a man as excited as Paul was when Kode 9 dropped one of his tunes :)

Enjoyed the funky stuff Kode played- seems an interesting area of music at the moment, with loads of ideas from the 'nuum colliding, the later bits, where he drifted in to crowd pleasing dubstep were a bit dull to be honest.

Paul's set was really good, from sped up ragga, through a bit of '92 style breakbeat action, onto some really excellent new (?) stuff, which sounded fantastic.

The new Woofah is REALLY good too

Its probably been said a million times, but Kode 9's selection totally compensates for the odd clang. In fact, I quite liked his rough and ready, slam-em-in style of DJing. So much more exciting than the rest of the dubstep djs playing that night. And he played 'Different Lextrix' by Mos wanted Mega too, one of my fave tunes of late.

I'm pretty excitable and enthUsiastic most of the time but yeah I do lve hearng kode pla move down low. Never tire of it! We got a cab over with kode too which was nice.

I missed the dubstep stuff but yeah, the funky / wheredoyoucallit / dark house axis is great. Still so much cross polination and loads of potential.

thank you. I really wanted to play some ragga twins and renegade soundwave to link dancehall with the bashy funky. Most of the rest is new. Move down low VIP is out on soul jazz soon but the rest probably isn't coming out :).

The new Woofah is REALLY good too
yeah proud of that!
