Cheapo Sampler Recommendations?

Ello - advice needed. I want to get hold of a cheap, basic, EASY sampler for use when I play out (just to drop some spoken word bits, film samples and stuff between or over tunes). So it doesn't have to be flash, and I'm fairly broke.

Any recommendations? :D

and something nice and portable / compact too - not a full size studio / rackmount jobby.

God, I wish I'd taken more care on the original post :D

does look great but it's the wrong end of £250, whereas I have a fraction of that to spend. Overkill just to drop some samples, I think... I've seen a couple of the Yamahas for about £20

Those Roland 404s are quite trendy innit. SU10 is definitely a good bet. Could also check for an Akai S20 if you see one for a good price. I got my Korg ES1mkII for £60 and that's a lot of fun. That was a nice deal though

right, this is a bit embarassing, just asked a techy mate of mine about the SU10 and he reminded me that he gave me one last time I explored this sort of thing, about 8 years ago. It's in a box in the corner alongside my Kaos pad and Disciples-made siren box.

Well if you'd wanted a Roland 404 I could have sold you mine for a decent price, but I guess you don't need one now eh?
