too much pop/R&B beats on this. i still like it cos its roll deep but this isnt grime entering the mainstream on its own terms at all.

You said it! This is all that really needs to be said about this album. As far as I am concerned Creeper Vol 1 is the definitive Roll Deep album although technically a mixtape.

people should be aware that promo of album isn't finished one - theres some trax missing (more grimey ones) and some versions on it are wrong i.e. no riko at moment

dont know about creeper being the real roll deep album, half of that was hip hop tempos and hip hop style beats too. that was better than this though. this is too commercial. that said, i like the corniness of it. i dont know if there really will be more grimey tracks on the finished one, just cos the promo ive seen is direct from the label...... i think this is the final version as it stands, sadly. hopefully it will do well for them though, no point in selling out if youre not going to literally sell out of the shops.......

How do you fuckers have Creeper already? DC++? (I hate that program)

And where do people get this shit off DC++? That EskiBoy hub? How do you get access?!?!?

i don't know much about DC++ (never got it poppin on gnome/linux) but nicotine is a reliable slsk client. what's the story on Creeper? i got it off a bro and he didn't have the info on it either.

have to say the 1 minute treatment of aaliyah's "miss you" is one of the best tracks i've heard all year.

the promo from the record company is the one I'm talking about... not final one

thats a bad move on the labels part then - people are gonna review it from whats on the promo copies.... oh well.

Ok, I got Creeper off Soulseek last night. Anyone have a tracklist? (I'll buy it when it comes out, this rip has lots of gaps between tracks). I also got Roll Deep 'Rollin Deeper', is that the album that leaked so they went back in the studio to do new stuff? Way too much cheesy rnb-ish type stuff. Not enough grime. Hope the album when it drops has more grimeyness.

Heartbreak Avenue = bleh

Yeah some of the rnb tracks on that album don't even work on an rnb level.
I love Scratchy's freestyle on creeper though and the Sniper slew cause it is way over the top. Sorry I don't have the tracklist either. Also check the UK Grime room on slsk, it is easier to find stuff that way.

I thought Creeper Vol 1 was out already and that they are now working on vol 2.

in a way, ive kind of rethought my stance on this. yeah its utter cheese, but its just one album. not sure if this will have seismic impact on the scene. on one hand it seems like a sell out compromised move to me, but on the other hand, i feel a bit bad at saying roll deep have to stick with one music. thats not the point though, nothing wrong if they wanna do a bit of hip hop or R&B, but this stuff is just straightly aimed at the lowest common denominator. whether they sat around thinking up a plan to do that or not, thats what it is. i like it in so far as i like cheese, but this is just embarassingly corny at times. best of luck to them though, i hope they do well with this.

from what I've heard I agree....a lot of it is jus straight up commercial. A lot of things get my goat sometimes bout Roll Deep - one recently is the fact that Wiley doesn't really seem to really care about this LP doing well, the arrogance of it. It could be the fact that they are apparently licensing these tracks to Relentless which displays a level of industry power I didn't know they had....

Its the current hip hop influenced view of sales as a total barometer of sucess which, I think, was the deciding factor in these commercial tracks. Within garage this should not be a prominent thought but a afterthought I think. Garage is at a level similar to indie music when it first kicked off but bands survived because they toured. Instead garage crews don't have a stage show and only play out at raves so they are goin nowhere fast.

Dizzee is the dude cos he hasn't compromised his approach (well not really) and HE TOURS - my respect for him has grown tenfold and perhaps BreakBeat will be on his next LP lol....
