Ha it's funny cos I remember we started watching it and this line

“The ships hung in the sky in much the same way that bricks don't."
Which comes right at the beginning was something that made me laugh out loud with its unexpectedness and from there I was hooked.
Though looking at wikipedia it says it was first broadcast in 1981... now I am old but not that old, I can't have watched it first time round I guess.
What's that book that he's supposed to have kinda "borrowed" the story from? I've never read it but the synopsis does sound quite similar to say the least.

Thrown under a bus, why? I think he's saying the Nomos quote is good and the Douglas Adams one isn't. Don't think anyone is running you over.

I can happily watch 2 or 3 episodes of this masterpiece in a sitting. Anyone else hooked on it?

three episodes into Swedish TV drams "caliphate", pretty gripping.

disappointed with "unorthodox", "shtisel" is 10x better in portraying the culture.

Anticlimax? I've just been thinking about looking out this series and I'm already persuading the girlfriend... is this something that means I shouldn't bother?

It was cancelled, so it just sort of ends at the end of S3. I dunno whether the film corrects it, but I expect it was intended to.

I would still recommend it, its really just the very end that feels like a bit of a letdown. But only cos you know that it is all set up for more. Sorry, may have spoiled it there, maybe not tho.

As in, it was so bad they cancelled it when they did, it was just getting interesting, there was so much they could have potentially developed.

You should deffo watch it.

Best series i seen in a while, a lot better than strange angel or twin peaks 3

My favourite characters were Doc and Al and I loved the relationship that developed between Al's goons and Silas after them being kind of frosty at first.

christ, that Swedish series Kalifat (Caliphate) is intense viewing. watched a couple of episodes ending around midnight last night and had to stay up another 45 minutes hour just to unwind.
