+ whoever said that screwed R+B just kills it was dead right

slowly ( hahaha ) workin my bad self through the screw tapes I got - with regards to dragged out dope r'n'b - one tape stands out so far: "Late Night Fuckin Yo", that laboured squelching bassline with R Kelly octave dancing all sensual over the top - such a guilty pleasure....

Yeah, I have that one... I always put it on and then it will get to "Never Be A Better Love" and about halfway through I will tune in and be all... "what the fuck am i listening to"

I like it but I don't think it is slow enough.

The big super slow 10+min freestyles are where it is at.

yeah, could be slower... There is an incredible drag of J Hova/God MC's "Hard Knock Life" on one tape.....so slow the kids from Annie sound like blokes - epic, at work right now but would happily dropbox it

I've just been pitching down various italo records. Don't think it's a 'thing'. Sounds amazing though. I would upload a mix my brother made when we were sitting taking shitloads of valium but it's 2 and a half hours long and I'm pretty much on dialup.

I'm going back to my mums in a few weeks and there's a beast connection there so I'll try and remember...

so i've only gotten thru 4 or 5 of the recommended tapes so far but I was just listening to In the Zone and as great 3 N' the Mornin' Part 2 undeniably is ("Sailin' da South" is that jam) I think it might be favorite so far. the screwed version of "In the Air Tonight" is nuts and then this

just kills it on so many levels, I wonder exactly what dude was thinking making the Queen Bee into a man's voice rapping about taking it from behind + getting the pussy licked + everything. or what did his audience I think I mean were dudes banging that Screw with diamonds up against that wood or was it a massive PAUSE a decade before that even entered the lexicon or a bit of both...there's definitely a gender theory article or ten waiting to be written right there tho (apropos of academia in rap)...Screw, codeine proponent + de facto blurrer of gender identity. it messed me up for a second anyway...plus it knocks of course or it wouldn't be worth talking about in the first place.

+ whoever said that screwed R+B just kills it was dead right

The other thing I love about this tune is the way the dude is, like, 'commenting' on the track as it goes along (the 'this bitch crazy nigga' stuff)

Still listening to loads of screw, love the old r kelly, brandy, mariah carey, phil collins and nate dog chops - naturally this is all well critical and purely research, tracking threads of salvage punkian voco-narcissism amidst the voids of echo and reverb....

this is dope as fuck

From Player Memories... amazing. Got back to Screw tapes this last couple of days after a snippet of something was haunting me continuously. Turned out to be Player's Ball from Hard Times.

And of course I had to listen to about a dozen tapes to reorient and scratch that particular itch.
