i found some new music that excited me

http://www.planet.mu/discography/ZIQ309

ignored all the kuedo stuff til now for some reason as i thought it was pale and insipid post dubstep/nu trip hop stuff (not sure why) but instead it is actually like hip hop beats i love and old 70s synth soundtracks and obv there are links to other instrumental hip hop coming out right now but theres something a bit better about this than say, that clams casino ep (which is somewhere between old instrumental hip hop and some of the salem type stuff thats out now but not nearly as bold), its emotional but not soft and i really like the sonic clarity - theres something really pristine about it, reminds me a lot of dabrye actually

i wonder how jamie vexd went from vexd to this kind of thing

one of the albums of the year and ive only heard the snippets so far - mu have released a lot of my favourite music over the past year or so, got to admire the label for always looking ahead

I enjoyed this very much, thank you

Although he isn't mentioned in the description, I think Moroder has a definite influence on this guy

I reckon this album is going to be a top one for this year defintitely, alongside zomby's and LV's. to be honest I have ignored kuedo and anything vex'd reated basically because I havnt heard anything I really liked since gunman, loving this though.

Good find, seems to be a bit of a departure from the previous Kuedo stuff, which was of course quite a big departure from the Vex'd stuff. It's quite retrofuturistic (almost hauntological?) but that's no bad thing

Edit - the drums aren't all that retrofuturistic. But the synths are

The album is incredible. Since he is a regular at our events in the Netherlands I have been fortunate to get an early copy of the album. I think it is the most impressive, distinct and consistent debut album in the game since Memories of the Future of Kode9 & the Spaceape. That same scifi melancholy, but without the dread. In Jamie's album there is more sorrow than dread. He deserves all the credit: a gifted producer and dj.

Yeah amazing album, Jamie Vex'd's abundance of talent makes me fucking angry. Impressed by how refined this sounds as well, sounds so far from lazy but so minimal and simple, really refreshing.

havent you only heard the clips?

it's a really good album tho. love how minimal it is - just bladerunner synths, drum machine rushes and basslines. and it works so so well.

well yeah. but this is a message board. im allowed to use hyperbole.

esp when guys like clams and shlomo (who is nice i suppose but seems pretty derivative of a whole load of things and is also just a bit too generically pretty or something for my liking) seem to be getting a disproportionate level of praise. arab muzik's album is quite good though. even if half the interest in him seems to be 'whoa! hip hop producer samples old trance tunes!' when rap producers have been using trance/dance sounds for years already.

Co-sign. Been replaying the clips quite a few times.. can't remember the last time I did that but it's been a good good while.

Jamie's all kinds of fucked right now. Album is a personal "MUST HAVE".

Actually, Roly's come out with an album of... It SOUNDS idiotic when I say it, but, post-"Metalstep" with orchestral themes.

In other words, it sounds like the more industrial and ambient qualities of Vex'd, but instead of being metallic, harsh and snarling, it's very... I don't know? Poltergeist-y? There are sounds that vanish and I don't know where they go, but their weight is still there, and it's ominous.

These guys, both of them....

Kuedo LP on PLanet Mu is sick, popped it up on witch haus forum because I thought it has little of the aesthetic on a few tracks - please feel free to post up more links - or dropbox it if anyone's still doing that??
