Glad people enjoyed the countdown and seem generally happy with the final list.

Those of you lamenting the lack of certain tunes/artists: Lots of the more connoisseurial grime and particularly dubstep definitely suffered from split voting, inevitable in a poll like this.
For example, practically every Mala or Coki tune they ever made received at least one vote, lots of Black ops/Wiley/Ruff Sqwad one vote wonders too.

Overall I think its a good list, no huge surprises (though I was scratching my head at Qawwali tbh) but a fair reflection of the boards general tastes - quite broad and varied but with a definite Grime bias.

been half-trying to cobble together a list for myself the last few days... especially with Funky, it's great to go back and revisit. 'Wanna be your girl' would have ended up in my list as the token funky tune but I only heard it for the first time a few weeks after sending in my list. To be perfectly honest my knowledge of UK Funky will always be patchy unless the likes of Rinse take a leaf out of the BBC's book and start doing up to date tracklistings (and as someone else said given that so much of this stuff is unreleased or just gets sent out for free you can't even use discogs to educate yourself). The internet was meant to make finding tracks easier but for me it's the opposite, the alternative outlet for info is mags like Mixmag but it's too much work nowadays to read it cover to cover, especially given that their free CD's have been mediocre for the last ten years now. At least Kiss have a full time funky DJ in Pioneer, what's 1Xtra's excuse. They waste several hours a day on joint broadcasts with Radio 1 which is fucking pointless.
