I like records with really heavy fuzz on them. Here are a couple I bought recently, can you recommend me some more

Dunno why that first one won't embed, I've tried three times.

that sounds like a combination of fuzz and blown amp speaker! i like.

mayyors are pretty raucous, maybe more punk noise than psyche fuzz. this vid contains their entire ep:

Yeah that's definitely pretty fucking raucous but I was thinking more of something where the fuzz can kinda breathe and blow your ears out on its own.

what kind of fuzz do you want man? cos there's 1966-7 psych fuzz, 1969-71 heavy psych fuzz, proto-doom fuzz, JAMC-style proto-shoegaze fuzz, psych folk fuzz. I mean there's, like, thousands of records to be recommended. you gotta be more specific. and how obscure? I mean, like, you don't want to recommend just Blue Cheer, right? I'm never sure how much dissensus people actually know about guitar musics or not.

for the moment here are a couple fuzzy records tho

'ill see your pre-zz top fuzz and raise you pre-journey fuzz. don't stop believin...in fuzz!

there's also the whole school of japanese noisecore - gai, confuse, kuro, etc - following in the wake of disorder (like where discharge founded many schools of imitation, disorder only founded one, in kyushu, but a mighty one it was) but that's more like noise than fuzz, tho pretty fucking fuzzy noise, or noisy fuzz, I don't know. think you're more for 60s-style fuzz tho

Ty Segall - who we've discussed elsewhere - has a new band that's actually called Fuzz. They sound a lot like Blue Cheer or The Groundhogs. My special lady just went on a road trip to see them play.

Sidebar: Ty actually plays drums in this band and if anyone is looking for fresh 70s rock-style breakbeats to sample, he's got 'em.

Mr. Tea

Let's Talk About Ceps
There's a certain kind of extremely treble-y, fuzzed out guitar you hear on some (mostly) electronic music from the late '80s - listen here around 1:50 and again around 5:00.

You hear it in some Front 242 and even the first NIN album before they went all metal. I think it sounds quite cool.

Of course, I'm bound to say that the finest fuzz of this particular year has come from My Bloody Valentine. Seriously, m b v is a very (specifically) fuzzy album, with an incredibly warm, deep and rich sound, which still retains enough physicality to let you know the sound is coming from a seriously cranked amp. It's a more conventional/classic tone than he ever used in the band's Creation era but damn is it some good fuzz.

Cheers for recommends, can't listen on this computer cos the sound seems to have broken but I will check those I don't know. Good call on Moving Sidewalks and Rallizes Denudes - although if I remember rightly that's just so badly recorded you can barely hear the band through the background noise which I suppose is what you're alluding too.

All kinds really as long as there is lots of it. Mainly the psych stuff. I want it to sound warm and make me feel weird. And if there is a pop-element then so much the better cos I like tunes.

Ah, my friend has that Parasites of the Western World lp - thanks for reminding me that I want it.
That Vulcan tune is cool, never heard that before.

Nah, that's his actual guitar tone. There are some pretty clear soundboard recordings and a semi-pro-shot film that are just as harsh.
Some more goodness:

Yeah but I've never heard a good recording of it.

Apparently the Distortions of Darkness is related to this lp

The+Firebirds+-++Light+my+fire+1969.jpg

I've got that one somewhere but haven't listened to it for years, maybe I should dig it out.

I should mention this great tune from the guy who is credited with inventing the fuzz sound

Also this is an early fuzz classic

There's a really great quote from one of the Dead C guys, where he says something along the lines of: "We're not lo-fi - those are good fidelity recordings of an incredibly crappy sound."

If you want totally blown-out Japanese fuzz rock, surely High Rise is the place to go:

dunno why I even asked, guess I wasn't clear if you just wanted any music that was fuzzy or "fuzz" specifically. cos anything can have the quality of fuzziness whereas "fuzz" clearly denotes specific musics ca. 66-73 or so and later revivals of those musics. speaking of which, some things posted here are not only not fuzz, they're not even fuzzy. Sunn O))) ain't fuzzy (neither is Earth or any of that). I love the Groundhogs but Tony McPhee, not fuzzy. and MBV, or any shoegaze. the crystal clear distortion layers of shoegaze is the polar opposite of filthy fuzz distortion.

not that I want to be the fuzz police. I'm just saying. meanwhile, here is more actual fuzz

the cover of this LP is an anthropomorphic blueberry pancake run amok in a diner, which is awesome
<iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/K-9qs2KACJQ" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

the rest of the this record is merely OK but this delivers the goods
<iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/tCIuruJHMrA" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

proto-metal satanic fuzz! unlike Coven (hugely overrated 3rd-rate psychedelia w/occultsploitation trappings) this kicks ass
<iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/QC-cU7cZGZE" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

another case where the rest of the record unfortunately really blows besides this one jam

that vulcan record is cool, in terry brooks + strange territory, but the king of semi-outsider "I'm just a guy in a basement w/an unquenchable thirst for facemelting acid guitar" dudes is def randy holden

I should note that Parasites of the Western World isn't really fuzz either, neither is Chrome or the Electric Eels or any ise damaged lo fi provinicial american prepostpunk kind of thing. they're a different thing from fuzz.

I am anti-fuzz.

that's ok, fuzz is anti-craner. the only things I trust your opinions on are 2-step and Central Asia anyway.
