CONDIMENTS

No, though in the Phillipines they replace marinara with ketchup on spaghetti

Personally I find this practice abhorrent... I have just marinara parmesan spaghetti. Maybe some onions if I'm feeling fancy.

The ketchup goes on other things like:
- meatless burgers
- onion rings
- soy tendies

I'm gonna be honest here... my girlfriend has gone for a week in Dusseldorf and after I dropped her at the airport I went to pick up my newly repaired laptop from the shop. Nearby to that shop is one of the only streets in Lisbon where proper (ie not fake drugs for the tourists) are available to buy right then and there on the street. So I thought, what with girlfriend away and all that, no harm in treating myself. So the above ketchup related bullshit that I spouted is what you get if you start smoking crack and writing, bragging almost, about condiments.

Marvellous. Now do a few lines of turmeric and write a paean to cocaine.

The best condiment known to man is a chipotle oil recipe that only I and a handful of other people know and will make anything delicious, smokey , rich , hot without conflict, every meal is an endorphin explosion with this condiment.

The best chili condiment is Laoganma, sometimes called spicy chili crisp. It's incredible. I mix it with sesame paste, a bit of sugar, bit of vinegar, bit of soy to get a very tasty sauce for rice or noodles.

That was one of the first posts in the thread. I go through a jar every two days

The brand is Laoganma or however you spell it. It comes in all different varieties but chilli crisp is the classic. You can get it with black bean, with peanut, with tofu bits...

Tao Huabi’s story began in a remote village in Guizhou Province. Born into a poor family, she never got the opportunity to go to school. Tao married at 20 but when her husband died of illness a few years later, she was left to raise their two young children on her own. Illiterate, and without any specific work skills, Tao Huabi became a street vendor to ensure that she could provide for her young family. She worked tirelessly and would regularly make the journey to get ingredients on foot, trekking 5km to the store and carrying the goods home on her back.

It was in 1989 that Tao opened a noodle stand, and here she served generous portions of tossed noodle salads with her special home-made chilli sauce. Her stall began to develop a wide following, with customers unable to get enough of her delicious chilli sauce. Often, they would come just to purchase bags of the sauce to take home. Truck drivers dining at her stall helped to spread her fame far and wide, and soon customers were driving across town, out to her store just to buy her chilli sauce.

Yes the greatest food in the world. I took some to a mates bbq a few summers back. Was thinking I was having a lovely time, having a few drinks, chatting with wit and grace, inducting initiates into the mysteries of laoganma.

Then I woke up on their floor at 6am with my shirt absolutely covered in laoganma. Apparently I started eating it straight out of the jar and spilling it all down myself and it was at once an impressive but also sordid spectacle. I walked home.
