Yeah that's the ad... it's all over at the moment. Cos Trump is clinging to the one thing he did do which was ban flights from Wuhan, I keep seeing Fox or whoever putting about the time-line that purportedly shows he did loads of stuff incredibly early and aggressively, although most of it was behind the scenes strangely enough. Anyway, the answer to that misinformation is clearly to post the above which normally happens at some point. What is their argument for demanding it be taken down? Merely that they don't like it?

Trump, like any authoritarian nationalist leader, identifies his own interests with those of the country. So what's good (or bad) for him is good (or bad) for America.

Thus he can easily frame any narrative that attacks him - even if, as in this case, it's just quoting his own words back to him with some objectively true data juxtaposed with it - as un-American, or anti-American, and possibly even treasonous.

And this is even more important in a time of war. Of course the USA hasn't been openly at war the whole time he's been POTUS, except for their ongoing low-level engagements in various parts of the world. But he's figuratively at war with the "deep state", he's initiated a trade war with China, came very close to open confrontation with Iran and is now at "war" with a virus (even if he's doing as little as he can to actually fight it, apparently).

Who loves ya, baby?
It's crazy he just came out said it...

“The things they had in there were crazy,” Trump said on Monday morning, discussing voting provisions pushed by Democrats in a coronavirus response package. “They had things, levels of voting that if you ever agreed to it you’d never have a Republican elected in this country again.”

I just came here to talk about that. It's crazy, he's lurching around like a drunken uncle at a party - nobody has even bothered to mention the slight change of position from "It will go down to zero cases in a few days" and "If less than one or two hundred thousand people die then we'll have done well" - no-one even batted an eyelid. And then he got some CEO from a company I've never heard of to come to his press conference and advise everyone to pray!

that guy (who runs a late-night TV mail order company called my pillow) is a religious nut who has donated a ton of money to trump's campaign. it's pure pay-to-play, reached a certain level that qualified him for a few minutes at the podium in the rose garden. would you expect anything less from the grifters running the swamp...I mean, administration?

It's amazing... I can see from the US reaction that this My Pillow things is something that everyone is aware of and that makes it even more laughable to them.
Have you noticed by the way that the latest Republican line is to claim that Trump was distracted and in fact prevented from dealing with this by the Impeachment Hoax? I guess that was when he was there giving all his testimony etc

Or you can just say "I don't take any responsibility at all" without any reason whatsoever.
That's pretty much what I'm getting at, but I like the idea of blame or responsibility behaving as a flow - in a sort of mathematical sense - with Truman acting as the ultimate blame-sink and Trump as the ultimate blame-source. The point from which blame always originates and never ends up.

Plank after plank of the Trumper deflection falls away. From the start a big thing has been comparing it to "Obama's swine flu" which killed about 12,000 people apparently, albeit over a year or so and without the disruption to the economy and everything else etc Today or tomorrow the Coronavirus death toll will overtake that and with no end in sight. I'm surprised that Trump hasn't started disputing - or just flat out lying about - these figures yet. He has lied about every other aspect of the situation (yesterday he disputed a report about hospitals being short of resources and threateningly demanded the name of its author in the press conference instead of engaging with its damming contents) and its build up so far so why not cut straight to this bit? I wouldn't be surprised if that starts happening from about now...

And they gotta vote in person in Wisconsin in the primary today which seems... I don't even know what to say really.

We've all heard about US officials siezing a load of medical masks in Thailand that were on their way to Germany and Canada, right?
