the most stunning thing about that interview was that it's taken this long for a journalist to call him out on his BS. I don't get it, why isn't he pressed into a corner everytime he deviates from a subject, especially when he's in a room full of journalists. they should gang up, follow through with the one question, repeat it over and over again until you get an interview like this.
In all seriousness, is it possible they're worried about the safety of their families?

That and their press credentials being revoked. There's the tightrope of holding him to account without pissing him off to the point he has you thrown out or refuses to be interviewed.

I'm sure many of them do think about job security, but there must be a few loose cannons. Media loves clicks and once it's caught on film (like with this interviewer) it would generate tons and then there's the benefit of being lauded as a journalist proper, when really they're just doing the basics.
it baffles me tbh

Yeah, you might have thought that even if CNN or whichever company decided it was no longer worth the risk of keeping on a loose-cannon type reporter, there's a huge market of alternative and semi-alternative news media that would surely love to hire the hero/heroine who took on Trump.

Then again, I expect those companies don't pay as well as CNN does - then again, again, it'd be amazing if some older hacks who were already financially secure just thought "ahh, fuck it" and put principles ahead of self-interest.

Then again, again, again, older people are more likely to have kids, and there's the sheer nastiness of this administration, as I've already mentioned...

we've seen a few attempts at confrontation, but he switches up and the next journalist in tow doesn't follow through, and so it continues. the same thing is happening here with Boris and his mishandling of Covid, and just about everything else. as someone who is prone to conspiracy it makes me want to believe the media is complicit

the other stunning thing about that interview is that trump agreed to do it at all. he usually only sits down with the biggest ass kissers at fox, axios (and Jonathan swan in particular) are real journalists. trump's aids probably tried to talk him out of it but he's a stubborn old fuck who does what he wants.

Same with the Chris Wallace interview, no idea why he's done either of those. The conspiracy here is his handlers are leaving him out to dry, severing the limb.

in fairness, trump has always been his own press secretary. I'm sure lots of staff have tried to dissuade him from doing things and he just blows off their advice because he's convinced he knows better than they do.

So is Trump dismantling the postal service to stop postal voting?

he put a big donor with no experience in charge (remember "drain the swamp"?) and unions have protested that he's tried to change things to make it less efficient and slower. short-term goal is to make voters question whether they can trust it for mail-in ballots, long-term objective is to break it to the point where it eventually has to be privatized (the swamp again!).

he's truly an evil fucker. the fact that for 55 cents, an entire government infrastructure springs into action to carry your letter across the country is a wonderful thing. plus, the postal services employs lots of minority workers who are able to get decent healthcare coverage and pensions. it's far from perfect but only an evil fucker would want to kill it.

It's par for the course, but that he's willing to destroy the postal service purely to protect his own ego is absolutely staggering.

Yeah I always think what a shame it is the state of UK PO, British Rail and so on... these were the first institutions of their kind (I think, I dunno, I just assumed that in fact) and they worked and they've been eroded for years and abandoned and now they're shells of their selves if they haven't been sold off.
