I listened to a few of their big hits like 20th century boy and children of the revolution and I don't like that stuff so much it sounds like what I thought they sounded like (so I probably heard those two before and saw some tacky whistle test footage). But that "Electric Warrior" is great.

i was totally transfixed when this came on radio three this morning.

in the first few seconds the mood changes from confidence to fragility in an instant, such is satie's control of harmony, and it proceeds from there in perfection.

This is one of my favorite records, but unfortunately they don't have the other tracks on Youtube.

The best ones on it are 'At sea in foul weather' and 'Sea mist'.

It is the best thing I ever got in a charity shop, closely followed by 'The Pleasures of the Royal Courts' by The Early Music Consort of London and 'Hawaiian Guitar' by The Stars of Hawaii Orchestra.

My CEO (he of the dub playlist fame) has done a Kraftwerk playlist today and I've recommended he check out Drexciya. So now I'm listening to Drexciya. This is the first thing that's come up on Spotify, basically, that's why I picked it. But it's real nice. I can't hear Drexciya WITHOUT imagining underwater worlds cos of their imagery/marketing, so this definitely sounds bubbly and aqueous with synths appearing out of the murk and flashing past like fucking silver fucking swordfish or whatever.

If we just compare this to kraftwerk the audible difference is in the reverb. So maybe that helps make that underwater symbolism tangible in their records?

when the boss sends round his playlist, do some people reply all saying how good it is? is there some good cringe going on?

Some people do react to it but the reactions are (i believe) genuine. They're good playlists, albeit 4 hours long.

He's not a CEO as you're probably picturing a CEO. It's quite a small company. (Still quite funny to be recommending Drexciya to your CEO, I grant you.)

:crylarf:

Amazing to see only a vaguely sarcastic article about that in Rolling Stone. Well, amazing for someone if you sent that article back through time to the 70s.
