Surely a few more to add to that canon
well like anything it depends where exactly you want to draw the boundary on "EBM", and "canon"

I'd call Neon Judgement more fellow travelers, like a Belgian take on Suicide

but whether you include them or not, the real point is that compared to most things it's vanishingly small

like an expert could name hundreds of garage rock records, or Italo, or boogie, or whatever - indeed, minimal wave synth etc

EBM was kind of a subset of a subset

Yeah indeed... and I increasingly see little value in caring where the line is between minimal and ebm and new beat and other types of waves and so on they come up with these days. I do find that most of the stuff within those groups that I like tends to be called ebm so I guess that's the one I like best. As a rule.

another fellow traveler is the glory days of Wax Trax before that kind of industrial/rock hybrid soured badly

i.e. this monster tune - industrial sleaze disco of the very highest order

I think of it as EBM, New Beat and related things are in of a continuum of slow dark hard sexy dance music

maybe not a true continuum in the way the nuum or the NY disco-postdisco-house continuum is with the same producers carrying over

but a sonic continuum

it's the slow dance dark cousin of the cosmic-balearic continuum, which also includes the sleaze end of disco, and maybe rare groove

Yeah I always link them... although EBM can be a bit faster.

No sure what style this is - cheesey but I like it (ex-bauhaus of course or side-project if you prefer)

this is one of the hardest/relentless wildest tracks I think I've heard in the last 10 years

100% off yr face totally out yr skull ego death in a dark warehouse vibes

if it was idk 50 (100?) bpm faster it would be third's ideal punishing acid robot music (#surrendertosodomyoliver)

yeah used to dance to this in the early 2010s funnily enough, it's still my ideal dance music at that tempo.

fucking mental choon.

that whole era of early 2010s techno was great, sort of getting back in touch with anhedonic rave vibes of the mover, touching on german powernoise and the birmingham sound. Then people started losing the sleaze and flooding the market with hardstyle influenced garbage like this.

Just totally irredeemable whichever way you cut it, and a travesty that it uses that UR sample as well. It's basically crypto tech house isn't it? 0 hour contract hardtechno produced to exact specifications. anyway. It's not always about *just hard* for me, it has to be fucked up as well, which is why I like shit like this.

The ultimate surrender to Sodomy Oliver tune is electronome bro 2 (not on youtube though), and it doesn't even hit 120, really giving ollie's bum a workout.

hardest and most fucked up shit in the world, but not even that fast.

Is Surrender to Sodomy Oliver a type of music now?
more like a state of mind that produces a specific kind of art, if I understand it correctly

i.e. you could have surrender to sodomy paintings or whatever, thought I'd have to think about what that means/what they are

on a serious note tho I don't wanna promote anyone having to "surrender" any of their sexual autonomy even in a joking sense

(unless they want to, of course)

as a metaphor, OK, but I suppose the graphic description crosses a line

not that I want to ruin the banter, but I'd feel like I was violating my guiding principle of consent above all if I didn't say that

if we just take the Oliver off and say "surrender to sodomy" it still works perfectly well, albeit not for dissensus bantz I grant

"surrender to sodomy" is a pretty great phrase, definitely. the imperative alliteration of it.

hard to think of a phrase that better evokes this

Perhaps it would be worth making the phrase into a sigil in the Austin spare method, remove the double letters and then place everything left on top of each other till you get a new symbol?

@thirdform u know Tuning Circuits right?

I know I've mentioned it before

it's like this guy time-traveled to collect every kind of cool hard fucked up techno sound and smash them together into a bloc of black hole density
