53) D Double E - Birds in the Sky

One of the few genuine accomplichments ill give to Jammer

He's a funny one. I think I was

Saying on here the other day he's responsible for some of the worst elements in early grime. All those nasty sounding cheapo horns parping away but he's got some transcendent moments too, this in particular.

Very idiosyncratic off piste pix from rap and grime so far. A few celebrated classics (birds in the sky) but mostly smaller canvases.

58) Waifer - Who Wants Waifers

I think my favourite part of this beat is that near the end the drums start goin off beat as if it cant contain its own anger

59) Buffy Sainte-Marie - God is Alive, Magick is Afoot

It was either this or "The Angel" which is also off the same album and is a journey in terms of how it talks about the journey of the afterlife

but this this is eerie like it came from some other plane of existence where Sabbath got their riffs and Fred Frith comes up with his ideas

Really wasn't expecting this. My ma was a big fan, and I absorbed her by osmosis. The vibrato puts a lot of people off, but she really was a remarkable character. Im sure its happened before in history, but a citizen of a recently vanquished people spitting fury and contempt at her conquerors is truly something to behold.

64) Gil Scott-Heron & Brian Jackson - Song for Bobby Smith

Ive always liked these songs that are indirectly dedicated to other people it happens alot in jazz

Gil wasnt angry and seething at the system all the time and when he wasnt he could put out something affecting like this

66) Roc Marciano - Scarface Nigga

One of the hardest tracks in recent memory, gallows humour, refferences to old basketball players like crack was still on the street, a flow that snakes around the track until he gets bored with it

It boggles my mind that it took people so long to realise there was alot of comedy in the music of Marci but then again same thing with Prodigy "my flow hard to mimick like Yiddish" lol

Headphone music at its finest, the strings on this for me signify that really bad things are bout to happen and even worse things will happen as a result and them drums might aswell be a funeral march

its all about the mood when i listen to shit like this
