It's not Daniel bedingfield that leads to post dubstep, it's el b

no, you're so wrong. none of them knew who el b was until 2011! I know, I had to show them some of it and then show them how madder and fucked up oris jay was.

You know what it means though.

Yeah, I get your general drift but like these people weren't listening to youngsta sets in 2007, which were dark, dank, claustrophobic and virtually uninviting. It was the people who got on funky like bl*ckd**n who started rehabilitating el b instead of sticking with dubstep through thick and thin. I'm just a punter, I have no obligation to do that, I didn't nurture the scene, but its champions are a different story.

the problem is the post-dubstep lot were actually the most who consciously knew about the continuum. they didn't go on gut instinct or stick to their guns. so you got no real branchings out. that's why the hardcore continuum eventually just became the neoliberal continuum. but you look at someone like grant nelson and he was setting up nice and ripe with George Power in 93. roast at turnmills started in 91, long when happy mania was taking hold of the rest of the country. the problem is once the continuum became consciously invoked it nullified itself. so what I'm trying to do is tease out those moments prior to that where the music is becoming conscious of its *mass appeal.* rather than a glitch per se where a song like midnight request line just explodes.

I'm going through rare groove playlists trying to sift out eternal timeless nuggets. so much smooth sax abominations this is what triggered this thread. dance musics inherent conservatism and the tension between the headfuck avant-prole avant-garde and the aspirational crowds. post-dubstep was an aspirational crowd pretending to be headfuck. we have to go to the root of the matter. el b is just surface.
