Well, they're not full of jargon and are written in a smooth and elegant style, so maybe give them another go. You need to choose a time when you will be undisturbed, turn off the dubstep, fix up a nice drink and immerse yourself.

Craner's essays are elegant weapons for a more civilised age.

That is a very nice way of putting it thank you. I just spoke to my Dad, who told me he had read my Swansea essay. It is well written, he grudgingly admitted, but then added that the title didn't actually reflect what was in the essay, there was too much going on and people who had started reading it for the history would never have got to the end.
