It's like a much darker leaned out version of the original song. All that beach optimism has disappeared. The hook is very interesting, kinda croaky. I think someone said this upthread, but its like breathing as difficultly. Drowning not surfing. The difficultly of surfing and staying upright.

reminds a bit of Euphoria the show. Letting it fill your lungs. Letting it consume you, take you to your acid arcadia, where you can nullify yourself and surf reality. The show had good visuals.

I don't know - I can recognise as a version though. Same tempo, very similar hook. Just the production feel is a lot darker. Underwater, like you say.
