Penrose has some good lectures on the evolution or recurring big bangs, a geometric term i can't quite remember. That's even more of a headfuck.

For reality to be fake there has to be something unfake we can take as a reference for comparison - "aha, you think it's like this, but you are deceived, for it is really like this instead". What can this unfake something - the way things really are - be, but reality?

when the teacher gives you an essay question the best way to wind them up and get a bad mark is to deconstruct the question

like David Luke im mostly against reductive enoptic phenomenon explanations. its too boring and the boring answer is always the wrong answer. on the other hand you dont want people getting over-excited. difficult one.

The idea that reality is a simulation/fake would be more credible if reality was constantly entertaining and dramatic. Because the simulations we know of (video games, TV shows, films) are designed to be entertaining and dramatic.

yes thats one of the big problems i agree but then on the other hand that does reflect the choices we make.

if we took the attitude that this was a sim and eg stabbed someone for a laugh our lives would get more dramatic.

What's the point of a fake? To trick somebody that they're getting something better than they think they are.

But then there's the adjective fake which is more encompassing and can include video games where you know it isn't real, it doesn't even pretend to be (or does it?)

There would be no point (it seems) simulating my life because my life is 99% meaningless, boring, repetitious.

yeah but that is cos you havent clocked its a sim and started living on that basis. youre eg still risk averse in a way that makes no sense if this is a sim
