let me love you obviously. So Sick was bland (rote, rehearsed) appealing to the neo-soul sophisticates with mock affectations of soul, and not the real deal at the time as well. better to find the recent comeback gems in old soul singers. Sure, Aretha rehearsed every note but she rehearsed relevant to her time period and not to chase retro clout.

the real shit, no comfort food here!

So sick is for the non-commital. ItÂ’s the sound of yearning for being in love rather than being in love. ItÂ’s isolated and cold. Love becomes an abstract thing that will never be attained.

IÂ’ll never have a girlfriend. IÂ’m fundamentally a person who canÂ’t do it. IÂ’ll be 50 years old, with no family of my own, going to my sisterÂ’s for christmas and having to awkwardly fit into that, to be the awkward extension. So sick is a song of someone who would love to be able to live but fundamentally canÂ’t.

Luke tells this very poignant story about the wistfulness he feels when he looks at office parties at Christmas and sees the other oath heÂ’s chosen. So sick sounds like that.

An introverts anthem.

love doesn't exist anyway. that's precisely why it's good to get into let me love you. reduce it to sheer exchange passion. this is the orthodoxy of dissensus.

What you going to vote for version? Different for you given your probably the only person on the forum who hasn't heard both of these 50,000 times already.

You'd never get Usher doing anything as dainty and as intricate as that I don't think. He likes to spread his wings too much for anything that fiddly.

ne-yo is too much of a nice guy. usher is a ladies man but he's more london. because the whole world revolves around london of course.

Mario and Ne_Yo are both very nice boys. It's their defining feature and helped make this feel like a whole mini era and micro genre. Usher was going around infecting women with herpes.

I'm leaning toward Mario. It's got the same thing for me that people were saying with MJ vs. Prince. The Ne-Yo's great but feels like "pretend music".

Just never have. I've never even heard of Mario before and I thought Ne-Yo was a one-hit wonder who did a song called Lonely which was actually by Akon.

i can see what you mean; you can very much hear the songwriting in so sick. it's glaringly obvious. amateurishly- and as such endearingly- so.

but so sick is genuinely and profoundly emotional in a way that prince isn't. prince sounds like holding a tennis ball between your bum cheeks and tensing so that it doesn't fall out, whereas neyo's is very affecting, it reaches straight into your soul.
