One thing I find telling about this is this kind of punitive rhetoric we are getting from ministers etc. We are not supposed to regard it as a holiday apparently. Well why not? I certainly am. I want to enjoy it as much as possible.

tbf Watson was a Wood because.....he white.....but he wasn't in a Nazi gang. His ability to parlay being a soldier turned shot-caller into a career in personal development is quite something though.

Yeah I know I know although he may be sugar coating things to some degree. I've watched plenty of his videos. They're quite compelling. You can see he can't relax into civilian life. He's still a bag of nerves and tension, understandably

Nixon goes to China though innit. Look I'm not saying I like that this is true, or that it's fair, but if Corbyn had become PM and this had kicked off things would be even more fucked up than they are right now.

Help, I Think I'm In Love With Andrew Cuomo???

I worked in local New York news for years and developed an intense and reasonable dislike of Cuomo. He has repeatedly hindered attempts to reform the criminal justice system, he took advantage of a once largely conservative state Congress to keep progressive legislation on reproductive health from becoming law, he fucked around with the MTA so much he forced out the only useful subway leader the administration’s ever seen, etc., etc., etc.

And yet, in this time of crisis, with little concrete information available, I need Cuomo’s measured bullying, his love of circumventing the federal government, his sparring with increasingly incompetent city leadership. Not only that, but the less contact I have with other humans, the more I start to think of Cuomo as my only friend. I’ve started laughing at his little jokes. I catch myself touching my hair (not my face!) when he talks about an increase in testing capacity. I swooned when he told a reporter he had his own workout routine. I have watched a clip of him and brother Chris Cuomo bickering about their mother at least 20 times. I think I have a crush???

Pretty much. Dat confidence thing. 10 years of Tory rule means that there's light at the end of the tunnel for dem wealth creators. Otherwise maybe they'd go Galt or worse, let's not pretend that the Right kinda don't love themselves a bit of righteous coup action.

Yeah I think it's likely although I also think he would have done a better job at starting from the bottom and working up to ensure everyone is safe and secure for as long as we need to hunker down

I'd like to think that almost no-one* in the world would have downplayed it and dithered without decisive action as long as Boris did. Surely Corbyn would have been better in that respect?

Easy to say, but Treasury is borrowing with all its might and John 'Little Red Book' McDonnell might have struggled to raise the cashish.

Re: decisive action. Corbyn's record on that isn't amazing.

Well I don't want to get into hypotheticals that I don't really care about but I don't think that Corbyn's style is just to dismiss something and tell everyone it will just go away as with Trump/Johnson despite the science.
