Baskin Robbins guy might not be pleased to be called an essential worker but he seems to be putting a brave face on it.

One of my friends made a good point on facebook (mixed in with some nonsense about hoping Boris recovers soon) - how come that when the Scottish Medical Officer is filmed ignoring her advice she has to resign... but Johnson and Hancock (the health secretary no less) are filmed almost every day flouting the self-distancing rules that they say are so important. Now they have both been diagnosed with the virus, Johnson is even in hospital sucking up valuable resources that could be used for a real person and so on, risking Raab being in control... it's all arguably because they repeatedly and blatantly ignored their own rules. Shouldn't they resign and be executed? Especially as Hancock came out of isolation too soon and starting breaking the rules again in front of a hospital.

Whaaaat?

Soon we'll start “temporary interment”. This likely will be done by using a NYC park for burials (yes you read that right). Trenches will be dug for 10 caskets in a line. It will be done in a dignified, orderly--and temporary--manner. But it will be tough for NYers to take
Yeah I'd imagine it will. Surely this isn't really gonna happen? Even if it's not a joke at this point I find it hard to imagine it will ever actually be carried through.

Er... neutral I'd say. I will feel a little guilty if he dies I guess given my previous remarks but, I dunno, killed by his own stupidity... best result is maybe he gets better and resigns or mends his ways like in a film.
Crazy that his office has been lying about the seriousness all week.

But think of the aesthetics. A perfect and beautiful comedic arc. Euripides + Beckett + Coogan.

I think we can all agree that it would have been hugely disappointing if he had shaken it off as though it were a common cold and gone straight back to work.

If that had happened we would all be entitled to question which way this so called moral arc bends

Boris is one of those like Obama where I find it difficult not to like the man, but find myself at odds with his actions.

Mr. Tea

Let's Talk About Ceps
Boris is one of those like Obama where I find it difficult not to like the man, but find myself at odds with his actions.

This is precisely the problem - he does a very good job of appearing likeable. I actually didn't mind him when he was just an MP who occasionally went on TV and said things that MPs don't usually say. But it soon became apparent what sort of person he really is when became Mayor. (No doubt it was obvious years earlier to those who follow politics and journalism closely.)

Regarding Obama, of course he wasn't the saviour a lot of liberals wanted him to be but he's in a whole other universe from Johnson as far as personal integrity goes, isn't he?
