Problem is the WHO has no good evidence for any NPIs against flu (with their only moderate evidence being that masks and hand-washing are useless) and it isn't known how the flu is transmitted either.

Assuming the contention is correct, if even the least stringent measures banished flu, then the logical thing would be to enforce those measures and dial them down until flu pops up again before dialling back up again: all the benefit while minimising the costs.

Depends really doesn't it. When it first turned up it was wiping out lads left right and centre as far as I can tell
Well there's flu and then there's flu, I guess. Yeah, the one 100 years ago was pretty nasty. I meant the normal seasonal kind that comes around each winter (except last winter).

Wonder if their set of mild to moderate restrictions have cost them the equivalent of our £1.4bn/day lockdown costs...

Furthermore, that analysis comprises the predominantly laissez-aller period before they decided to mimic the loony lockdowners.

Who would have thought that we would have no money left for foreign aid after spunking enough cash to save more than the UK's population twice over.

We had one of the unhealthiest populations in Europe even before the pandemic hit, the highest economic inequality, high population density and an epochally terrible government. So these numbers aren't really surprising.

It's also obvious that if we'd had the same infection rate as Sweden - over 50% higher than ours - we'd have done correspondingly worse for deaths and long covid cases.

Hot New Conspiracy Theory: Vaccines Turn You Into a Magnet

On Tuesday, dozens of people packed into a Cleveland, Ohio, health committee meeting to review a bill in the legislature that would weaken the state’s vaccination laws. Then a physician and “expert witness” stepped forward with an awesome claim: The shots magnetize people, causing metal objects from pennies to forks to stick to their bodies.

“I’m sure you’ve seen the pictures all over the internet of people who have had these shots and now they’re magnetized,” said Dr. Sherri Tenpenny, an osteopathic physician. “They can put a key on their forehead. It sticks. They can put spoons and forks all over them and they can stick.”

A woman calling herself a registered nurse defended Tenpenny’s testimony by trying to use her own body as proof and sticking a key onto her chest. “Explain to me why the key sticks to me. It sticks to my neck too,” she said as she kept trying to stick the key to her neck (it repeatedly fell down). “Yeah, if somebody could explain this, that would be great.”
