Social Engineering.

One of the things that has returned to the public consciousness after decades of repression is the idea of social engineering. The notion of a shadowy and nefarious 'They' pulling the strings.

The Great God Flux, the idea that events are just the result of a random collision of particles, has been usurped.

The public see Agendas everywhere. They notice how the same article, ever so slightly reworded, about eating insects as a protein source, appears again and again across all different news outlets. And they wonder where it came from.

They know PR firms write the news. They know there has been secret service infiltration of the press and entertainment and culture industries from the start. They know most of the users on the Internet are not human at all. Everything we see is fake and has an Agenda behind it.

We're all conspiracy theorists now.

You get this in the great heroic modernists. It's all over the Cantos and The Great God Flux is from Wyndham Lewis. Marshall McLuhan picks it up from these sources and Bob Dobbs carries it into even more hysterical registers

It's absolutely fundamental to the alt-right and it's also now ubiquitous in the liberal left.

The Koch Brothers. Putin. Soros. A world of think tanks and lobbyists.

Well we've got someone at the heart of the government advocating eugenics, brain-enhancing drugs for children, and mandatory coils for newly pubescent underclass children.

Is it even in the shadows now?

some projects are shadowy. Others are in the open. Some things which are in the open are false fronts for other things which are in the shadows. There are a number of different actors, pursuing agendas which are often in conflict. That's what I would assume, to answer your question.

Richard Dawkins

It’s one thing to deplore eugenics on ideological, political, moral grounds. It’s quite another to conclude that it wouldn’t work in practice. Of course it would. It works for cows, horses, pigs, dogs & roses. Why on earth wouldn’t it work for humans? Facts ignore ideology.

Pynchon has a 'They' which he is only slightly ironical in invoking.

The Adam Curtis documentaries are, in a sense, documentaries about social engineering. His films have entered the conspiracy canon. Everyone knows Bernays now. The conflux of psychoanalysis, propaganda, PR, advertising, mass culture, social control...

There's a very strong sense everywhere that we have been led somewhere it turns out we didn't want to go.

And that is causing fairly serious ructions.

Another ex professional fighter espousing the benefits of psychedelics.

Who would have ever seen this coming - MMA as a populariser of magic mushrooms and DMT?

It's social engineering. Someone's pushing the stuff into the scene using people like Rogan as figureheads. They're being experimented on.

A lot of people think of the entire '60s counterculture in that way.

Leary as CIA. MK Ultra. Inside the LC.

It's remarkable how quickly this stuff takes root. I find it kind of strange to see people smoking now. The public perception's been completely flipped.

A lot of people going vegan now too. Simon Cowell and other celebrities. Quorn adverts on TV. Joaquin Phoenix being photographed eating a vegan burger after his Oscar win.

Yeah crazy how malleable and impressionable people can be. You put one 'leader' type in front of a goon and sooner or later the goon is communicating in the same style as the leader. Aping their language and format. As if their whole persona was a blank. Or not there to start with. A deadhead, of you will.

At this rate, humanity will fairly soon be divided into those who don't eat any animal products and those who eat nothing but.

JP Morgan and friends starting the compulsory school system in America at the beginning of the 20th century explains a whole lot about dumbing down. Was inspired by the 19th century Prussian tiered school system where 0.5% of the population got a 'full' education. 2.5% were taught to lead and administrate. The rest were taught to take orders. Once it proved to be effective Morgan exported it to the rest of the world and it remains the defacto system pretty much globally.
